Three Day experience weekend for
Friday Night: 5pm- 7:30pm
We start the weekend with a friendly meet and greet at my studio. There's space at the studio for your bags, and we're 5 minutes by bus or taxi from Dawlish Train Station.
Accompanied by refreshments, I will show you around the studio before we have a lovely light touch introduction to glass and design session.
For Friday and Saturday night I can recommend a brilliant range of local restaurants- from the best fish and Chips, to Thai, India, Italian Pizzas on the Beach, Smash Burgers, Brilliant Seafood Platters, and award winning Ice Cream Parlours. All within a 10 minute drive of the studio.
Saturday: 10-5pm
With teas and coffees provided, we will get to spend the day choosing colours, cutting glass and making headway on our personal projects. These will be either a 12-15 piece copper foil or leaded stained glass creation. Lets your ambition and creative juices flow.
There's time after we finish for a gorgeous sunset walk on one of the surrounding beaches. Before a chance of dinner at the local Airbnb, restaurant or catch some music at one of the local pubs.
Sunday 10:30-4:30pm.
Optional: morning swim and/or coffee and bacon butties on the beach at my favourite local cove. Meeting at 8:30. NB: swimming is undertaken at your own risk.
Sunday we carry on where we left off! A whole another day to create with glass and finish our projects. All in excellent company and with copious amounts of tea and coffee provided.
This is a wonderful opportunity to get away with friends, take a break from the family, or advance your skills.
Discover the magic of stained glass in our inspiring glass classes! Whether you’re a beginner or have experience, our welcoming studio is the perfect place to unlock your creativity. Enjoy hands-on guidance from Laura Kriefman an internationally exhibiting Leaded Stained Glass Artist, as you transform beautiful, vibrant glass pieces into stunning works of art.
Hosted in a fully equipped stained glass studio, this weekend course is a great opportunity to be part of a relaxed and informative group where you can work at your own speed and have something to take away at the end of the weekend. I can provide tuition in leaded light, copper foiling, and painting on glass techniques, and how to design your own unique pieces in my studio.
The studio is equipped with all the tools you need and for weekend course all glass and sundry materials will be supplied.
Students can learn any or all of these three main techniques:1) Traditional leaded lights- how to design a cartoon (Design), cut glass to a pattern, lead, solder and then cement your panel. 2) Copper foiling (Tiffany style)– Create a design, Cut glass to a pattern, copper foil your individual pieces and solder your piece. 3) Painting on glass– Learn the basics of painting on glass using tracing lines and shading. Fired in the kiln. To add depth and texture into you glass windows.
If you are booking (especially as a group) - feel free to reach out to me and let me know what techniques you would love to focus on.

More about the Studio and the course:
In the studio I have work benches for students, and a full set of teaching equipment for creating stained glass ( such as cutting tools ) and a host of lovely design books you can take inspiration from. Alternatively I can help you design your own pieces. For people completely new to glass I will shape the course around teaching you all the basic techniques and getting you comfortable cutting glass and soldering. I can teach both of the two different stained glass techniques and I will have equipment available ( and some spare glass) for you to be able to test/ create ideas etc from your first lesson onwards. I have a certain amount of glass offcuts that you can use to practice, all the tools you will need, a lovely selection of stained glass design inspiration books and resources available. We can also go through my glass library to help you choose what glass you might like and what would be suitable for your project once you have an idea what you would like to create.
Preparation before Class:If you have thoughts on design and colour beforehand, please do bring any ideas and sketches with you. If you have your own glass tools and want to bring them with you, you are most welcome. Please wear old clothing and closed toe, sensible shoes as it can get messy. If you have fitted clean work gloves, or gardening gloves you are welcome to bring those. Unfortunately if you are pregnant or a nursing mother you will be unable to do this course due to working with lead. Missed classes are non-refundable.
Leave the term with your own unique stained glass creation—perfect for gifting or decorating your home. Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot today and let your imagination shine!

"Highly recommend taking a stained glass making course with Laura. Starting from scratch as a complete beginner I have learned so much and gained confidence in just a few weeks. Laura is a methodical and patient teacher and her enthusiasm is contagious. I'll definitely be booking more classes."
"I've attended 2 sets of classes with Laura and they have been really great. She is really encouraging and helpful and I managed to make 2 door panels which I'm really pleased with. Would highly recommend Laura's classes. She's a really positive teacher."
"I cannot recommend Laura’s classes enough. I started as a complete beginner with grand plans! Laura is so encouraging for you to make what you want and through her expert guidance and patience I have been able to make a fan light which (I think) looks amazing and rather professional! Laura gives you to confidence and space to work on your project at your own pace but the small classes offer lots of opportunity for individual support. Laura is clearly very talented and is so generous in sharing her knowledge and techniques. I can’t wait for next term! "
